Create a project
The three-step wizard: project type, details and plan, then a review with IPMA complexity.
Click + Create project on Projects. A three-step wizard gives you a dated plan, team roles and starter risks in under a minute.
Step 1: Type
The type sets the plan template, the team roles, the typical risks and the starting complexity. You can change everything afterwards.
| Type | Use it for | Method |
|---|---|---|
| Software | Apps, platforms, digital products | Hybrid: agile delivery, gated plan |
| Hardware & product | Devices, electronics, manufactured products | Stage-gate (EVT, DVT, PVT) |
| Civil & construction | Buildings, roads, utilities, fit-outs | Predictive: design, bid, build |
| IT & systems | Infrastructure, ERP, migrations, integrations | Hybrid, in waves |
| Event | Conferences, launches, exhibitions | Predictive, fixed date |
| Organisational change | Restructures, new processes | Agile change waves |
| Research & study | Feasibility studies, R&D | Iterative |
| Blank project | Building your own plan | Your choice |
Step 2: Details and plan
- Enter the project name (required), the sponsor and the objective. Write the objective as a measurable outcome with a date.
- Set the start date, the budget and its currency: OMR, SAR, AED, USD or EUR.
- Choose how the plan is built: the type's template, or the charter only if you want to build the plan yourself.
Step 3: Review
Check the task list, the finish date and the total duration. Below them, the ten IPMA complexity indicators are each scored 1 to 4. Click a bar to change a score. The total sets the IPMA level the project counts toward.
Click Create project. Project 14 gives the project a code from its initials and the year after it starts, for example NSM-27 for a project starting in 2026, then opens it.
Creating a project already logs evidence: 4.5.1 Project design, 4.5.3 Scope when the plan has six or more tasks, and 4.5.11 Risk & opportunity when risks were added.
